🌷Spring Into IEP Season: April Showers Bring… Updated PLOPS🌷

Welcome to the fourth, and final, installment of our “Spring Into IEP Season” series! While May flowers are expected, in our grand finale let’s go over how your family can prepare for the unexpected curveballs you may see in your Spring IEP meeting.

It’s fair to expect that everyone is busy during IEP season. That being said, your student’s IEP should not be “on the clock”.

You can ask for clarification.

You can request updated data.

Meetings can be continued.

The time lost implementing an IEP that does not accurately reflect the needs of your student, is lost forever.

Ask yourself the following questions when closing out your Spring IEP:

🪻Have the goals you are being presented with appropriately and accurately address your student’s unique needs? Or are they the same goals as last Spring, with an updated date?

🪻Are there baselines for the goals being proposed?

🪻Are the goals measurable and data-driven? Or are we just going off vibes?

🪻Do the accommodations being offered heavily rely on your student to advocate for themselves? Or is a qualified individual ensuring your student gets the support they need regardless of the circumstances?

All of these questions are crucial to understanding, developing, and perfecting a comprehensive IEP for you student!
